What is phone number scrubbing

A phone number scrubber is a tool that checks each number in a contact list against a live carrier database and classifies it by line type: mobile, landline, VOIP, or invalid. The output is a cleaned version of your list — with bad numbers flagged or removed — that you can import directly into your SMS platform, dialer, or CRM.

Every contact list accumulates bad data over time. Numbers get disconnected, people switch carriers, and imported spreadsheets often mix landlines and mobile numbers with no way to tell them apart from the digits alone. When to scrub your contact list

Scrubbing once and treating the result as permanent is a mistake. Phone numbers change hands, get disconnected, and shift from one carrier to another. A number that was valid six months ago may be reassigned or disconnected today.
